Complete remodel of a house situated in Salamanca neighbourhood, Madrid.

The project consists in the complete remodelling of a flat in a residential building constructed in 1927, and situated in the Salamanca neighbourhood in Madrid.

The house, which had not been renovated in the last 100 years, preserves many of the original elements of the time: herringbone melis pine floor, moldings, stained glass windows, riveted pillars, golden decorative elements, vintage iron radiators, etc. Consequently, the property wanted to keep most of these original elements that preserve an important part of the essence of the house.

Therefore, our job was to create a new distribution according to the new ways of living, preserving, restoring and enhancing these original elements from the early 20th century, and at the same time adding new contemporary elements that dialogue with this architectural legacy. The balance between the original and the contemporary elements has allowed the creation of a new modern space that preserves all its essence to host new stories within its walls.
